So now we will make sure that how can you correct this and how can you prevent this from happening in your future?

There can be a lot of reasons for the paint that is coming out and one of them can be that you have used paint that does not adhere to the exterior surface. Also one of the reasons for this kind of a situation can be that the surface was not well prepared for the paint to be done or it may happen that you have applied paint in too hot or too cold weather conditions because of extremes of weather situations can prove wrong for the durability of paint for a long time.

Correction to such a situation can be done by following the steps mentioned below:

  • Remove all the loose paint and loose surface with the help of a putty card. Make sure that no loose surface is left on the wall.
  • Clean the wall surface with the help of a drop cloth so as to ensure that no dust particles will come in between while we apply the primer or paint.
  • Then prepare the primer according to the wall and apply it in a “W” shape. Continue till you cover the whole of the wall.
  • Let the primer dry for a day or two.
  • Select the colour of your choice and apply paint just like the primer was applied. Make sure that for exterior surfaces paint must be adhering to the exterior surface else there will be problems again and again.
  • Let the paint dry completely.

To prevent flaking off paint from exterior paint in future remember that you don’t apply paint of bad quality and also choose moderate temperature so that paint can go on for a long time.
